Drawn from dozens of interviews conducted over the past year on Rising Up With Sonali, this documentary features the voices of scientists, academics, activists, and journalists examining the pandemic through a progressive and science-based lens. It takes on the right-wing disinformation campaign, the failures of the Trump presidency, the racially discriminatory impacts, the weakness of capitalism, and the path forward out of the pandemic.
Rising Up with Sonali is an all-women-run television and radio program that is nationally syndicated all over the U.S. on Free Speech T.V. and Pacifica Stations KPFK, KPFA, KPFT, and dozens of other community radio station affiliates.
Rising Up With Sonali has won multiple awards at the Los Angeles Press Club and host Sonali Kolhatkar has been recognized by the Women’s Media Center, 50 Women Can Change the World, and by numerous local activist organizations such as the Center for the Study of Political Graphics, Hunger Action LA, and more.
